Welcome to the 2010 – 2011 Band Year!
On behalf of the entire new booster board, welcome to the 2010 – 2011 Instrumental Music & Color Guard Program at Moorpark High School. I am excited about the upcoming year and look forward to working with you to make this a successful one for our students. Please take a few moments to look over this packet so that you are informed about all the music events Ms. Blake, Mr. Cook and the boosters have planned.
Below are a few points of particular importance:
The booster organization supports all our music students, not just marching band, and we encourage all parents to get involved. We are a fun group!
We rely on parent contributions, fundraisers, and community donations to provide music, instructors, instruments and more for your child.
Please set your spam filter to accept MHS Band & Colorguard Webmaster emails from webmaster@musketeerband.org. Then read our emails! This will keep you in the loop about any program news or changes.
Visit our wonderful website at musketeerband.org regularly to keep up to date.
Attend booster meetings! We keep them short – the officers meet on a different night to handle the boring stuff. I promise at least one laugh per meeting and lots of useful information that will keep you involved in your child’s life!
Come to registration day on August 14.
Be willing to help with our fundraisers. It actually is fun and you’ll be amazed how much the students will actually talk to you and appreciate you being there. You will also make friends with other parents – always a good thing. We’re not asking for blood, just a couple mostly painless hours here and there.
Check to see if your company has matching funds for charitable donations. We are a non-profit and your contributions count for these funds. Last year we had several thousand dollars come in from large corporations like Amgen, Bank of America, Intuit, Budweiser, and Verizon just because someone submitted a brief form at work! Spread the word!
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns and be sure to come to our booster meetings on the second Tuesday of each month. Our next meeting is on Tuesday, September 14th at 7 PM in the band room. See you there.
